Adoption of Pets from Shelters and Donors

The habit of keeping pets at home is growing due some obvious reasons. Pets are good source of companion ship when one finds him alone and sad. Pets can feel their owner happy and beloved. However there are been various occasions when owners are no longer willing to take care of their pets. There are numerous reasons for such unfortunate stance. One of the reasons is that the owner of the pet has been died and the family members of the owners are no longer willing to take care of the left pet. Another reason is some people just take joy of the pet and when they feel bore about it them leave the pet resulting in homelessness of numerous pets that are found around the street corners and roaming on the roads. Animal shelters are made for such animals to find another home for them the and as the animal shelters offer animals for adoptions free of cost and most of the time the pets find a new home for themselves.
Most of the time pet adoption is performed informally with the mutual understanding of both the parties where the donor is willing to find a new home for his pet and the other party is willing to host the pet while there are also some shelter homes that is already discussed that have pounds of animals offered to be adopted. Shelter homes are the homes of homeless animals that are mostly run by government and non-government agencies
Pet shelters and pounds are selectively willing to offer the pet to be adopted and prior to donating the animal the pet shelter authorities pay a visit to the home of the person willing to adopt which is an excellent policy. There is a drawback in that pets which cannot find new owners may have to be put down, a thing that no shelter wants to occur.
It is a common practice that people are more interested to buy a pet from a pet store rather to adopt it from a shelter or pound. One of the obvious reason of such practice is because it is found that the pets in shelters had a record of bad behavior and taking time to get trained while the pets available from breeders and pet stores are well adoptive to the new environment offered. There are of course some animals that may have been abused that may take more time to train, but most animals in a pound or shelter are likely to have had some training before making it easier in many ways.
If there are people more informed about the adoption of animals at the shelters than there would be fewer animals being put down each year. For reducing the number of pets that are put to adoption perspective owners need to be aware of the responsibility that comes with pet ownership. Also breeders need to be more selective about the pets that are bred, and ensure that there is always a market to prevent surplus pets.
