Tips for Taking Care of Pets

Summer is considered to the season where everybody is active and planning to play and enjoy the same is with the pets so you would need to know some first aid tips for your pets to provide it to pet before taking to a vet.
Create Your Own Pet First Aid Kit
If you own a pet it is your kind duty to carry a first aid kit all the time when you go out with your pet in your car do that you could give basic care immediately to your loving pet. The thing that you need to have in your first aid kit box is vet's phone number and phone number of emergency and it's your responsibility to contact your vet when your pet gets injured or ill for a caution. If you don't know a quick call is the best course of action!
The Basics:
  • Non-stick bandages or gauze pads
  • Hydrogen peroxide.
  • Stock Milk of Magnesia or activated charcoal to absorb poison, but do not use any treatment for poison until you've spoken to a vet.
  • Gauze for wrapping wounds or muzzling an injured animal
  • Towels and rags
  • Adhesive tape (the medical kind for wrapping bandages)
  • A large eyedropper or needle-less syringe for administering medication.
Getting a Sick or Wounded Animal to the Vet
Pets have no sense of understanding us and they don’t even known when we are helping them, so if your pet is able to walk, let him walk to the car and the other case if your pet is that much injured that is not even able to walk than you can arrange a stretcher by just using a board or blanket or car floor mat to get him to the vet for immediate medication and bandaging
The second thing you may encounter is if your pet is in agitation than take a lot of care as in such case your pet might bite you, so the thing that you need to do is muzzle him in order to transport your loving pet to the nearest vet. For muzzling your pet you would need to use a strip of cloth, you can also use rope and nylon stocking. You should wrap the muzzle around the nose, then under the chin and tie it behind the ears.  A bit of uneasiness for your dearest pet but you would require to keep it and yourself safe. Another thing that you should consider is you should never muzzle your pet when it is vomiting
What to do if your pet is bleeding
If the wound is deep and if bleeding heavy just put pressure on the wound for around 10 minutes and never release pressure to check the bleeding. Call immediately your vet and get your medical attention as soon as possible
What if my pet stops breathing?
If your pet stops breathing, first check to see if he is choking on something. Put him on a firm surface, such as the floor or a table, on his right side (left side up). Check for a heartbeat by putting your ear to his chest where his elbow touches his chest.
If you do not hear a heartbeat, you will need to apply heart massage along with breaths. Your pet's heart is located in the lower half of his chest, behind the elbow of his left front leg. You will need to place one hand below the heart, the other hand over the heart, and compress gently. For cats and other small animals, use the thumb and forefinger of one hand. For large animals, compress the heart 80-120 times per minute, and for smaller animals 100-150 per minute.
