The worst part of pet dog being lost is the extremely depressing moment for the owner where he doesn’t know what to do so it is the duty for everyone that he should help a lost dog to reach his true owner. There are times when people come across such lost dogs and might also be willing to help the poor pet but don’t know how to get it happen
Well the most important thing that you need to look at while finding a lost dog is that whether the dog is wearing a collar or dog tag and it is very good to see that nowadays most of the dogs are wearing such collars. Most of the dogs will have collars containing the addresses contact numbers which will help you to find the true owner of the pet. Another way around is that pets are provided with tattoos that will help to find the actual owner of the pet
The tattoos are mostly located in ear or the thigh. The tattoos would have kind of address or location where you can find the owner of the pet as it would be a great social service. If you don’t recognize any of the things the next thing that you could do is to take the dog to the vet. The vet would be able to find a microchip in the dog that will help to identify the owner of the dog and his address. Many dog owners have their pets chipped so they can by identified by details on the chip. You should ensure the vet thoroughly looks for a chip as they can be hard to find as they move under the skin.
If you can't find any of the things as mentioned above then the only thing you can do is that you can put flyers in the local shops and super markets with pictures of the dog and your contact details. Many pet owners will ring around local vets if their dog goes astray, so try and ring all the vets leaving a description and contact details in hop a match can be found. Dogs can travel up to 25 miles a day so the best search is a wide spread one. Try to register with an online pet's service and hope someone has created a notice about the dog you have found.
In the last if you find it difficult for yourself to retain the pet for long time the last thing you could do is to drop the animal at the pet shelter that is nearest to your home. Dropping it off at a local pet shelter will increase the chance of it being reunited with its owner.
