Pet Adoption Should be First Choice When Going for a New Pet

Animals due to so much human interference in the ecosystem and natural environment the animals don’t have a place to live. The best thing humans can do is return homes to those neglected and homeless animals. Returning homes means you should make them your family member. It has been estimated that in US everyday 10,000 kids are born and there are 70,000 puppies and kittens are born every day. There is no way possible for these newly born animals to have homes. The most disturbing fact about such animals is that when they are submitted to shelters 56% of the animals euthanized which is a horrible fact. It is on us the US people that we shouldn’t go to the pet stores to buy pets instead we should seek pets at shelter that we might be able to adopt.
Find the Pure Breed
Some people might think that is quite hard to find your favorite pet at shelters because it is very difficult to search every shelter around your city. Some people say, yeah but they are all Pit Bulls and German Shepherds, even if that is true they are great loving breeds but it is not. Do a test, and search the shelters and see how many Labs, Pomeranian, Boxers, Pointers... you name it and you will find what you are looking for. Yes it is difficult to find your favorite pet if you are not going the other way to find your choice in shelters. You might have heard about the online pet finder websites. These websites allow you to find your favorite breed in shelters with photos. There are around 20 million animals available at pet finder database for adoption just go on the website and look for your choice there will information provided with your animal choice. The information would include the contact number of the shelter and its address. You can just go there and negotiate with the authorities for adoption of pet
Petfinder.com, petango.com and petharbor.com are all great websites and most animal shelters post their available animals on these sites with pet finder being the largest. You simply type in your zip code and desirable breed and it will show a list of dogs starting from the closest to you and going as far as you prefer.
Solving Behavioral Problem of the Dogs in Shelters
One of the problems that you might face with the pet adopted from the shelter is the behavioral problem. The pets in shelters are under great stress. They feel alone, confused, abandoned and not sure what they did wrong.  If you are experiencing such odd behavior from your adopted pet, you should take him for a walk and spend time with him. This will help him out to be completely different dog. It's all about the care you provide to him or her
3. Somebody Will Come Claim Him...
Only about 15 to 30% of dogs in shelters are reclaimed each year... so where did the other 85 to 70% come from? Irresponsible owners, it's not the dogs' fault they are in the shelter but the owners.
